Divine Intersection

Centenary United Methodist Church is located at the intersection of Friendly and Elam Street here in Greensboro. The intersection is rather busy and an extremely noticeable intersection. We are very pleased to be here and very grateful for the wisdom of prior leaders in the selection of the location of the church called Centenary.

For myself I like to think of it as a divine intersection. As you drive past take a moment (just a moment) to cast a gaze. I think one thing you would notice about the church fairly immediately is its outstanding property, we are equally fortunate to have a wonderful groundskeeper.  You will also note a good distribution of nature and creation with physical structure that allows us to be engaged in ministry.

During the day you will see a populace of children, you may see them marching to our playground or being wheeled around in a cart well supervised by one of our excellent pre-school teachers. You would most certainly be amazed as morning turns to afternoon and afternoon to evening that Centenary is a busy intersection not related to vehicles but more so regarding souls.  Care groups, study groups, ministry committees, administrative committees, twelve step support cells, sometimes funerals, sometimes marriages, and always busy! I like busy! I want you to ride by Centenary and cast a “careful” gaze and say, “that is one busy church”. Do not misunderstand me we do not boast about our busyness we are instead content to only boast of our savior, Jesus!

This great season of advent at our intersection will reveal wreaths and lights of color and if you should listen carefully somewhere a song but foremost we are a community of intersecting souls. Sometimes in this stressful economy tired souls, sometimes sad souls if we should have to say goodbye, on occasion challenged souls, but we are always hopeful souls because we known in who we believe!

Do you need an intersecting place, are you looking for an intersecting moment, not so much busy as much as hopeful well make this one yours or at the very least give us a try, hey after that commercial what about we leave a light on for you we have one that never needs a power supply because He is the power supply! He is also light and John the gospel author relates in Him is no darkness at all.
